While at Scanline VFX I worked on Independence Day: Resurgence, my main responsibilities involved lighting, rendering, lookdev as lead of the Singapore sequence. As well as a few other shots throughout the movie.
This is another shot I worked on which was a extremely large scale shot.
As the shot progresses the lighting and feel change drastically.
A lot of assets to manage, and a lot of destruction to keep track of. Organization was key to making this shot possible.
This was one of the other shots on another sequence I also worked on.
Again there is no shortage of debris or polygon density, lighting on such a large scale requires a bit of clever thinking and careful placement to avoid creating too many lights which could drastically push up render times and cause strange shadowing.
